CIT Group goes into bankruptcy

Chapter 11 for CIT Group on a Sunday, and The Washington Post was 'there.'

CIT Group Inc filed for bankruptcy protection on Sunday, and its creditors have already approved the commercial lender's reorganization plan.

I tried bankruptcy and chapter 11, and TweetVolume gave these results

Bankruptcy seemed to be the big winner early -- 5 hours after The Post broke the news. The search phrase was "CIT bankruptcy."

This was decidedly more 'popular' than I expected. When I started the search at 9:50 p.m. Archivist found 1500 messages. They went back to 4:54 p.m. which was almost back to the time of The Post announcement. So I probably got most of the messages. I looked through some of the shortened urls, and The New York Times was the only one I encountered that was posted before The Post.

November 9, 2009 and time to stop the search. There were almost 4,000 tweets during the search. Most were in the first three days. After that the volume was very low.
